I finally copped a copy of Jim Jones’ “Pray IV Reign” and after about 5 spins in 2 days I felt like reviewing it. The Diplomat’s capo has stepped up his skills and made a solid major-label debut. We all know and heard the club banger ‘Pop Champagne’ produced by Mr. Ether boy Ron Browz, but aside from club joints, Jim Jones went deep in his toughts.
Very soulful intro followed by “Pulling Me Back” feat Chink Santana where Jim Jones raps about people in the game trying to hold back his success. He then blasts past “Let It Out” with a hot verese from Ludacris on “How To Be A Boss’ where Luda clearly overshadows Jim Jones with his sick flow.
The Capo brings it back with “Frienemies” and sends some indirect punchlines to possibly Cam’Ron and Max B spittin “I bought you out of jail/Without me, you’d be facing an appeal/But who knew this/You would be Judas?” (to me the hottest track in the album). Then he blows past the smooth “Blow The Bank” and “Rain” where Rell drops his hot vocals and Jim Jones tells us the story about his kids and him gettin’ locked up (another hot track). He finishes the well done album with the sarcastic “Na Na Nana Na Na”, I’m pretty sure you guys heard this track before and needs no review. Overall, gotta handed to Jim Jones for holdin’ it down for New York and Hip-Hop with a very well produced and hot rhymes album. – HHRAPINFO
I bought the Album, do the same!
I’m glad to know that the album has more to offer than “Pop Champagne”
